About Me:
When we experience hardship and suffering, this can negatively impact the way we think and feel - both about ourselves and others. Such experiences can make it difficult to “show up” in our life in a way that is meaningful and authentic. Instead, we can get caught up in unhelpful patterns that prevent us from living the life we want. By working through difficult experiences, together we can transform the challenges you experience in order to heal and live more fully. This includes honouring your own unique values, beliefs, sexuality, gender expression, spiritual or religious traditions, and life stage. By working compassionately with the particular difficulties that you are experiencing, together we can help you gain a greater sense of self-acceptance, clarity, and improved psychological well-being. I commend you for considering therapy as part of your journey towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I provide individual therapy with adults who struggle with anxiety, panic, OCD, depression, trauma, dissociation, attention deficits, issues related to sexuality and relationships, self-worth, assertiveness, spirituality, and vocational/work concerns. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative and draws on empirically-supported principles from well-established traditions including humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, and acceptance and commitment therapy. My approach also deeply integrates concerns related to social, cultural and other factors that impact each person uniquely.
In our initial meeting together, I will get a chance to listen to you and understand what you’re going through. Afterwards, we will go through an assessment to gain a deeper understanding of your unique experiences and challenges. This will enable us to collaboratively understand your goals for therapy and the type of support and practices that would serve you best. Throughout our therapy together we will continue to collaborate on therapeutic goals to ensure that we are always working on what matters most to you.
Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals in university mental health clinics, hospitals (inpatient & outpatient), and private practice. I have completed doctoral-level practicums at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre, and the York University Psychology Clinic. I have also provided psychological assessments to help individuals with difficulties concerning attention, depression, personality and cognitive functioning.
