About Me:
My practice is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and mutual respect. Together we will build upon your resiliency and strengths to develop a space in which you feel supported to discover insight into your experiences.
I am a graduate of the Factor-Intwentash Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto. My degree included a focus on Mental Health and Health, as well as a specialization in Addiction Studies. I have over 10 years of experience working with youth and adults in areas of: mental health, addiction, crisis intervention, sexual and interpersonal violence, homelessness, marginalization, system navigation, and service co-ordination.
This formal and hands-on education has furthered my devotion to a systems oriented, strength, and recovery-based approach when addressing individual and family concerns. This promotes a reflection on the whole person and their environment, while avoiding a narrow focus on mental health symptoms. It is important to me to work alongside clients to create insight into their experiences.
Throughout my career I have worked with diverse clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and life circumstances. This has helped me gain insight into the complexity of addiction, mental wellness, and impacts on support systems. I have also had the opportunity to develop my advocacy skills, especially with marginalized populations. These experiences have led me to approach my work from a reflective, curious, culturally humble, person-centred, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed approach.
